Prominence Energy Ltd has finalized the acquisition of Gawler Group Holdings Pty Ltd, securing complete ownership of the Gawler Hydrogen Project in South Australia. This strategic move includes nine petroleum exploration license applications (PELAs) covering hydrogen and helium prospects within the Gawler Hydrogen Project. The acquisition places Prominence Energy in a leading position in the fast-growing natural hydrogen sector, with Chairman Ian McCubbing highlighting the company's strong intent to capitalize on the emerging hydrogen exploration trend. The Gawler Hydrogen Project, located on the Gawler Craton in South Australia, offers a diversified exploration portfolio targeting promising hydrogen and helium source systems. Progress in licensing across the project is significant, with the first license grants expected by Q3 2025. This development will pave the way for focused exploration efforts to advance prospects for future drilling campaigns. The Eyre Project, part of the acquisition, comprises four PELAs covering a vast area and is deemed highly prospective for natural hydrogen and helium generation. The project's geological features, including radiogenic Hiltaba granites and uranium-rich zones, provide strong indications for the presence of hydrogen and helium resources. Similarly, the Northern Hinge Project, with five PELAs in a favorable geological setting, holds excellent potential for hydrogen and helium exploration. Post-acquisition, Prominence Energy will introduce changes to its Board and bring in new leadership to drive strategic objectives and exploration programs across the Eyre and Northern Hinge Projects.
