Romania officially launched the Ro-HydroHub project, a strategic initiative aimed at advancing hydrogen-based technologies to boost green energy. The project, funded with nearly EUR 140 million through the PoCIDIF Program, seeks to modernize Romania's energy sector and accelerate the transition to sustainable energy sources. Led by the National Institute for Cryogenic and Isotopic Technologies in collaboration with academic and private partners, Ro-HydroHub will focus on various research, development, and innovation activities. These include developing hydrogen production and storage technologies, creating advanced solutions for fuel cells and electrolyzers, implementing integrated hydrogen systems based on renewable energy sources, and transferring technology to companies to speed up the industrial adoption of hydrogen technologies. Additionally, the project will play a significant role in training specialists through master's and doctoral programs. Ro-HydroHub aims to foster collaboration between academia, the private sector, and European institutions to facilitate the rapid adoption of innovative solutions and support the EU's decarbonization goals. The initiative represents a new economic model for Romania, focusing on innovation, sustainability, and technological excellence.
