  • The pilot plant, expected to be operational by late Q4 2025, will consist of interconnected PEC reactors and will serve as a critical real-world test of SunHydrogen's innovative technology.
  • The collaboration between SunHydrogen and The Process Group aims to lay the foundation for larger hydrogen farms in the future, envisioning installations on the scale of hundreds of square meters.
  • Both companies express excitement and optimism about the project, highlighting the potential for scalable, high-impact renewable hydrogen production with minimal environmental impact.
SunHydrogen, Inc., a developer of technologies for renewable hydrogen production, has partnered with The Process Group, LLC (TPG Engineers) to design a >25-square-meter proof-of-concept hydrogen production pilot plant. This pilot facility will deploy SunHydrogen's proprietary photoelectrochemical (PEC) hydrogen panel technology at a significantly larger scale than before, marking the company's first pilot-scale hydrogen production system. The engineering design phase is expected to be completed by July 2025, with construction starting shortly thereafter and the pilot plant targeted to be fully operational by late Q4 2025. The Process Group, known for its expertise in chemical process design and mechanical systems, will support SunHydrogen in various aspects including integration of PEC modules, design of fluid systems, mechanical interconnections, gas handling, and safety protocols. SunHydrogen's CEO, Tim Young, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership with The Process Group, highlighting the potential for building larger hydrogen farms in the future. The collaboration aims to demonstrate a scalable solution for renewable hydrogen production with high efficiency and minimal environmental impact. The Process Group's CEO, John Reardon, also expressed excitement about the project, emphasizing the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge PEC technology. Both companies look forward to advancing the development of large-scale renewable hydrogen production through this collaborative effort.
