Adani Enterprises, a prominent company in India, has initiated the deployment of India’s first hydrogen fuel cell truck to revolutionize the transportation sector towards sustainability. These trucks will serve as eco-friendly replacements for diesel vehicles utilized in Adani's logistics operations. In partnership with domestic and international energy technology companies and a major auto manufacturer, Adani is spearheading the development of innovative hydrogen fuel cell battery-operated trucks designed for cargo transportation. Equipped with advanced technology and three hydrogen tanks, each truck boasts a capacity to transport up to 40 tons of cargo across a 200 km range. The inaugural run of the hydrogen-powered truck took place in Raipur on May 10, 2025, flagged off by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister, Shri Vishnu Deo Sai. The truck is designated for transporting coal from the Gare Pelma III Block to the state's power plant as part of the state's commitment to sustainability. Adani's CEO highlighted the company’s dedication to decarbonisation and responsible mining practices through the incorporation of eco-friendly technologies like autonomous dozer push systems and solar power. This project is a joint endeavor between Adani Natural Resources and Adani New Industries Ltd., focusing on sourcing hydrogen cells and promoting sustainable energy solutions. The transition to hydrogen fuel cell vehicles is poised to significantly reduce emissions and noise in the mining sector, leading to a substantial decrease in India's carbon footprint and reliance on crude oil imports. Adani's pioneering efforts in sustainable mining practices are showcased through the implementation of Dozer Push Semi-Autonomous Technology, enhancing safety and environmental sustainability.
