HDF Energy, a global developer of green hydrogen infrastructure and high-power fuel cells, has entered into a strategic partnership with Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC) to drive the adoption of green hydrogen and fuel cell technologies in Vietnam's maritime sector. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in Paris during the official state visit of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to France. The collaboration aims to deploy HDF's hydrogen fuel cell technologies across VIMC's operations, supporting the decarbonization of Vietnam's maritime industry. This partnership responds to global sustainability objectives, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the maritime sector and aligning with international goals such as the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26) and the International Maritime Organization's net-zero emissions target by 2050. The agreement includes initiatives such as feasibility studies, technical assessments, and pilot projects to validate hydrogen-powered ship operations, utilizing green hydrogen produced by HDF Energy's Renewstable® hydrogen power plants in Vietnam. The collaboration also focuses on securing international funding to accelerate the adoption of hydrogen-powered solutions. Through this partnership, HDF Energy and VIMC aim to position hydrogen as a key component of Vietnam's clean maritime strategy and contribute to the country's net-zero targets by 2050. The CEOs of VIMC and HDF Energy expressed their commitment to leveraging hydrogen technology to decarbonize heavy maritime mobility and lead the way in sustainable maritime transport. The collaboration signifies a significant step towards achieving emission reduction goals, realizing the Net Zero 2050 objective, and establishing a zero-emission maritime model in Vietnam.
