Hyundai's Xcient Fuel Cell truck, powered by two fuel cell systems and a 350 kW electric motor, has achieved a remarkable milestone in Switzerland. Since October 2020, the truck has covered an impressive cumulative distance of 10 million km, demonstrating the outstanding reliability of hydrogen fuel cell technology. Operating solely on green hydrogen, the XCIENT Fuel Cell trucks have left no carbon footprint during their activities, making a significant contribution to promoting environmentally friendly practices in Europe. The reduction in carbon emissions achieved by these trucks is substantial, equivalent to the annual carbon absorption of approximately 700,000 pine trees or creating pine forests covering an area of 508 hectares. This milestone not only highlights the efficiency of the hydrogen fuel cell systems but also underscores Hyundai's commitment to sustainable innovation. The manufacturer from South Korea aims to continue advancing its hydrogen fuel cell technology and expand its application to various vehicle types. Alongside its efforts in Switzerland, Hyundai is actively supporting hydrogen commercial vehicles across the globe, focusing on the entire production value chain, charging infrastructure, and hydrogen consumption.
