SFC Energy AG has announced the winning of a key order from Norlys Fibernet A/S in Denmark for hydrogen fuel cells to power critical telecom infrastructure. This marks a significant milestone for SFC Energy Denmark, the newly established subsidiary, with the delivery, installation, and commissioning of 235 kW fuel cell capacity scheduled between August and December 2025. The PoP stations in the Danish fibre optic broadband networks of Norlys Fibernet will be equipped with stationary hydrogen fuel cell solutions from SFC to ensure a reliable and climate-neutral emergency power supply. The decision to opt for hydrogen fuel cells by Norlys Fibernet, rather than traditional diesel generators or batteries, underscores a commitment to sustainability and low-maintenance energy generation. The technology, originating from Ballard Power Systems Europe A/S, has been part of SFC since last year. The order includes SFC hydrogen fuel cells of the type EFOY Hydrogen 5.0 Fuel Cell, providing a total output of 235 kW, and subsequent maintenance will be carried out by technicians of SFC Denmark. The CEO of SFC Energy AG, Dr. Peter Podesser, expressed gratitude for the significant order, highlighting the company's expansion in the hydrogen fuel cell market and its ability to meet the demand for emergency power solutions in critical infrastructure. Norlys Fibernet's COO, Magnus Just Olesen, emphasized the advantages of hydrogen fuel cells in offering maximum supply security, low maintenance, and climate neutrality, aligning with the company's ESG strategy. This strategic move positions SFC Energy AG to drive profitable growth in Scandinavia and leverage existing expertise and customer relationships, meeting the rising need for clean energy solutions in critical infrastructure.
