Aerospace startup SiriNor, with operations in India and Norway, recently achieved a major milestone by completing a ground test in Pune for its all-electric, zero-emission jet engine. Co-founder and CEO Abhijeet Inamdar highlighted the test as a crucial step towards commercializing clean emission-free aviation. The startup, known for its commitment to eliminating greenhouse gas emissions, has set up its base in Pune and boasts a highly technical team specializing in aerospace engineering and propulsion. The successful test validated the engine at Technology Readiness Level 6 and showcased its capabilities in exceeding design specifications. The engine's scalable architecture allows for applications in UAVs, regional aircraft, seaplanes, and defense platforms. Additionally, the engine is power-agnostic, compatible with both electric battery packs and hydrogen fuel cells, presenting a cost-effective and maintenance-efficient solution for the industry. SiriNor aims to target UAV engine commercialization by mid-2026 and achieve certification milestones for larger platforms by 2030, positioning itself strongly in the global jet engine market. Inamdar emphasized the importance of sustainable aviation and the need for zero-emission solutions. The startup's focus on electric jet engines aligns with the industry's goal of reducing carbon emissions. With plans to establish partnerships for component manufacturing and supply chain in Pune, Bangalore, Coimbatore, and Hyderabad, SiriNor is set to drive innovation and sustainability in the aviation sector.
