The World Yachting Summit (WYS) in Monaco focused on enhancing sustainability in the yachting industry. The event, organized by Monaco Marina Management (M3), included sessions on global trade disruptions, regulation changes, technology advancements, AI, tourism, chartering, and changing markets. While covering various aspects of the yachting business, the Summit particularly highlighted sustainability issues for yachts above 12 meters, including superyachts. Panels discussed reducing emissions and implementing hybrid systems to work towards net-zero emissions. Participants acknowledged the importance of protecting the marine environment, emphasizing the need for sustainable practices. Energy Observer, a vessel that completed a 68,000 nautical miles journey emitting zero carbon dioxide, showcased its hydrogen propulsion system at the summit. EODev, the commercialization arm of Energy Observer, revealed hydrogen generators and range extenders as solutions for zero-emission propulsion in large yachts. The summit shed light on innovative technologies and practices driving sustainability in the yachting sector, with a positive outlook on incorporating cleaner energy sources and reducing environmental impact.
