Joseph Gallagher Limited (JGL) has been appointed by United Living to undertake trenchless construction works as part of the HyNet North West project, valued at £50 million. This initiative aims to transform the region's energy landscape by focusing on low-carbon hydrogen production, CO2 capture, and underground storage in salt caverns. The project will significantly decarbonize the North West of England and North Wales, creating jobs and contributing to the UK's net zero targets. JGL's scope includes the design and construction of 53 trenchless crossings under various features like roads, railways, oil and gas pipelines, rivers, and canals. The project showcases JGL's expertise in complex underground engineering and trenchless technology. Approximately 160 roles will be created within JGL's scope, supporting the region's shift towards a clean hydrogen economy and protecting critical infrastructure through advanced installation methods. This project not only reduces regional carbon emissions but also enables employment and skills development opportunities in the area, attracting inward investment into industrial decarbonisation.
