Adani Enterprises Ltd. has taken a significant leap towards sustainable mining logistics by deploying India's first hydrogen-powered truck in Chhattisgarh. This innovative move aims to eliminate the use of traditional diesel trucks in coal transportation. The hydrogen truck, utilizing fuel cells, will be responsible for carrying coal from the Gare Pelma III Block to a power plant operated by the Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Co. Ltd. With the capacity to haul up to 40 tonnes, the truck is equipped with three hydrogen tanks, providing it with a driving range exceeding 200 km. Adani Enterprises, in partnership with Ashok Leyland and Ballard Power Systems, has spearheaded the development of this hydrogen-powered truck for mining logistics and transportation. This collaboration signifies a commitment to green technology and sustainable practices in the mining industry. The introduction of the hydrogen truck marks a significant milestone in the adoption of eco-friendly transportation solutions in heavy-duty mining operations, showcasing a proactive approach towards reducing environmental impact and promoting cleaner energy alternatives.
