Horizon Fuel Cell Group has announced an agreement to provide 100 VL-III Series hydrogen fuel cell systems to Shanghai Wuliu Automotive Technology to power a new fleet of cutting-edge 42-ton hydrogen-powered trucks developed by Z Truck Automotive Technology. These trucks, set to be delivered by July 14, 2025, are designed to travel over 1,500 kilometers on a single tank of hydrogen, addressing long-haul freight challenges. The initiative is part of China's broader strategy to reduce transport-related emissions by adopting zero-emission technologies like hydrogen fuel cells. The partnership aims to overcome range anxiety and improve commercial feasibility in the heavy-duty trucking sector. The trucks will utilize advanced Type IV hydrogen storage tanks to enhance safety, reduce weight, and maximize payload capacity. This strategic move aligns with China's commitment to accelerating the shift to new energy vehicles (NEVs) and expanding its hydrogen infrastructure. By introducing these hydrogen-powered trucks into key logistics corridors in China, the industry anticipates increased interest from fleet operators and investors, potentially driving global momentum towards widespread adoption of fuel cell technology as a clean energy solution.
