AM Green BV has signed an agreement to acquire a 17.5% equity stake in Greenko Energy Holdings from ORIX Corporation. This move will increase AM Green's total stake in Greenko to around 25%. The deal involves ORIX's investment in a convertible note issued by AM Green's parent company, providing exposure to green hydrogen, green ammonia, sustainable aviation fuel, and other low-carbon fuels. Founded in 2023, AM Green operates a Power-to-X platform focusing on renewable power, energy storage, and green molecule production. This acquisition enhances AM Green's vertical integration by utilizing Greenko's renewable and pumped storage portfolio in India. The flagship project in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, aims to produce 1 million tonnes of green ammonia annually, with plans to scale up to 5 MTPA by 2030, including an electrolyzer factory and sustainable aviation fuel units. Supply agreements are already in place with global players like Uniper SE and Yara Clean Ammonia. This strategic move strengthens AM Green's presence in the global green hydrogen market and reinforces ORIX's dedication to the renewable energy transition.
