- The collaboration aims to leverage green hydrogen and CO₂ captured from thermal power plants to produce SAF, aligning with India's decarbonization goals.
- The partnership strengthens NTPC Green's position in green fuels, supporting India's ambition to become a sustainable fuel exporter.
- Feasibility study to be completed by mid-2025, paving the way for large-scale SAF production ecosystem in India for domestic and international markets.
NTPC Green, a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has signed an MoU with Honeywell to pioneer sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production in India. The partnership aims to explore the use of Honeywell's eFining™ technology to convert CO₂ captured from NTPC's thermal power plants along with green hydrogen into SAF. This initiative is tied to NTPC Green's upcoming Green Hydrogen Hub in Andhra Pradesh. The collaboration is expected to drive early mover projects in green hydrogen and position India as a hub for SAF development. The feasibility study, set to be completed by mid-2025, will lay the foundation for a potential large-scale SAF production ecosystem, enhancing India's role as a sustainable fuel exporter. By aligning with India's decarbonization goals, NTPC Green is reinforcing its position as a leader in driving innovative and sustainable solutions in the energy sector.
