Project cargo has started arriving at the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD) in Oman, indicating a significant milestone for the country's debut into green hydrogen and ammonia production. Green Hydrogen and Chemicals Company SAOC, a subsidiary of India's ACME Group, is taking charge of building a green ammonia plant with an initial output capacity of 100,000 tonnes annually. The project's cost is initially projected at $750 million, with plans for gradual expansion that could potentially increase production to 1.1 million tonnes per year. Khimji Ramdas Shipping recently completed the successful unloading and inland transportation of the first major shipment from the Port of Duqm to the plant site. This delivery comprised 14 large equipment pieces, one of which weighed 120 metric tonnes. This event marks the beginning of a series of heavy cargo deliveries expected at the Port of Duqm as the plant progresses towards its scheduled commissioning in the first quarter of 2027. Future shipments will involve crucial components like solar PV modules, trackers, and electrolyzers, already secured under the project's comprehensive supply chain.
