The second ship in a new series for Viking, Viking Vesta, was recently delivered by Fincantieri at the Ancona shipyard. With a gross tonnage of approximately 54,300 tons, the vessel features 499 cabins and has the capacity to accommodate 998 passengers, positioning it within the small cruise ship segment. This delivery marks the 14th ship provided by Fincantieri to Viking, a partnership that has flourished since 2012. Notably, Fincantieri and Viking have announced the development of the world's first hydrogen-powered cruise ship, the Viking Libra. This innovative vessel, currently under construction in Ancona, will utilize hydrogen for both propulsion and on-board electricity generation, ensuring zero emissions during operation.
