Phil Sharp, the founder of OceansLab, a Jersey-based company, has received a £347,000 grant from the government of Jersey to develop a hydrogen-powered sailing boat. The aim is to tackle emissions in the maritime industry by scaling this sustainable technology to larger vessels, including ferries. Mr. Sharp is determined to push for clean technology in the marine environment and hopes to demonstrate its viability for various shipping sectors. OceansLab utilizes hydrogen fuel cells and solar panels in their innovative approach. The company is now focusing on commercializing the technology to maximize its environmental impact and has shifted into a production center for technology assembly.
