Viking celebrated the delivery of its latest ocean vessel, Viking Vesta, in a ceremony held at Fincantieri's shipyard in Ancona, Italy on 26th June. The small ship with 499 staterooms is designed to welcome 998 guests and will begin its inaugural season navigating the Mediterranean and Northern European waters. Viking's chairman and CEO, Torstein Hagen, expressed pride in adding Viking Vesta to the fleet, highlighting the company's dedication to offering travelers luxurious exploration opportunities in Viking comfort. Notably, Viking has introduced plans for eco-friendly initiatives with the unveiling of the world's first hydrogen-powered cruise ship, Viking Libra. This groundbreaking vessel, utilizing liquefied hydrogen and fuel cells, is expected to set sail in late 2026 and will be followed by the hydrogen-powered Viking Astrea in 2027. Viking Vesta has been constructed with adaptability in mind to incorporate these innovative technologies in the future. With a clear vision for growth, Viking has ambitious expansion plans, including the delivery of 27 additional river ships by 2028 and 10 more ocean ships by 2031. These milestones reaffirm Viking's position as a leading global provider of experiential travel.
