H2 Mobility has recently inaugurated a groundbreaking hydrogen refueling station in Düsseldorf, Germany, setting a new standard for sustainable transport in Europe. Developed in collaboration with Rheinbahn and Stadtwerke Düsseldorf, this station can deliver up to five tonnes of hydrogen per day and offers simultaneous refueling for buses, trucks, and passenger cars. The site is equipped with advanced charging technology, such as the Autocharge system, ensuring seamless plug-and-go refueling. Initially supplied with certified renewable hydrogen, the station plans to transition to locally produced green hydrogen by 2026 using an on-site electrolyser powered by energy from Düsseldorf’s waste-to-energy plant. Frank Fronzke, the COO of H2 MOBILITY, emphasized the importance of collaboration in driving innovation and decarbonisation. The station will play a crucial role in supporting Rheinbahn's hydrogen bus fleet and in helping Düsseldorf achieve its climate neutrality goal by 2035. Funded by Germany's National Innovation Programme for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology, this new station marks significant progress in establishing regional hydrogen ecosystems for heavy-duty and public transport, showcasing the potential of hydrogen in advancing sustainable transportation solutions.
