The province plans to invest a total of 317.7 billion won by 2028 in establishing key infrastructure such as a hydrogen industry promotion center, a safety test center, and an empirical test bed to support the commercialization of hydrogen products. The project aims to create around 4,500 jobs and generate an economic ripple effect worth 410 billion won, highlighting the potential for substantial economic growth through the expansion of the hydrogen industry. In addition to infrastructure development, Gangwon Province is also actively promoting eco-friendly transportation networks based on hydrogen. A hydrogen transportation complex currently under construction in Chuncheon is expected to be completed by the end of June, featuring charging stations and vehicle management facilities. The project, with a total investment of 19.9 billion won from 2022, aims to supply 2,000 kilograms of hydrogen per day and charge approximately 100 commercial vehicles like hydrogen buses and trucks daily. Furthermore, the province plans to distribute 30 hydrogen buses to Chuncheon by the end of the year, with the goal of expanding to 150 by 2030.
