Italy has achieved a significant milestone in its journey towards zero-emission transportation with the launch of the country's first hydrogen refueling station in Carugate, Lombardy. This project, led by FNM Group and supported by EU funding and Italy’s PNRR initiative, signals a progressive shift towards clean energy solutions in the region. The station, unveiled on July 2, 2025, and scheduled to open on January 1, 2026, boasts cutting-edge dual-pressure systems capable of refueling both light passenger vehicles and heavy-duty trucks fueled by hydrogen. The collaboration of key partners like Maximator Hydrogen, CPL Concordia, Simplifhy, and Milano Serravalle underscores the collective effort to establish essential hydrogen infrastructure in Italy. Automakers such as BMW, Toyota, Hyundai, and Daimler Buses showcased their latest hydrogen-powered vehicles at the event, emphasizing the increasing commercial viability and future potential of fuel cell technology in the transportation sector.
