In a move towards greener urban mobility, Odisha's Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) is set to introduce three hydrogen fuel cell buses in Bhubaneswar. This initiative, part of a collaboration with GRIDCO and NTPC, signifies a shift towards sustainable transport solutions. CRUT currently operates a fleet of 560 buses, with plans to expand services to more towns in the state. The Housing and Urban Development Minister highlighted the importance of infrastructure development and digital initiatives to enhance commuter experience. Measures like Key Performance Indicator-based incentives for bus crew members and digital transaction promotion aim to boost service quality. Odisha aims to achieve a 50 percent digital adoption rate by the year-end, along with implementing safety systems like Advanced Driver Assistance. The introduction of hydrogen buses, alongside ongoing electrification efforts, underlines Odisha's commitment to a cleaner and more inclusive urban transport network.
