Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, the Minister of Housing & Urban Development, visited the CRUT headquarters in Bhubaneswar to assess urban mobility initiatives in Odisha. The visit focused on reviewing ongoing projects, including infrastructure development and digital innovation, along with expanding services to additional towns. CRUT Managing Director briefed the Minister on the progress of electric bus depot construction and upcoming city bus service expansions. Dr. Mahapatra commended CRUT's technology-driven operations, emphasizing the need to prevent ticketless travel and boost staff morale through KPI-based incentives and training programs. The Minister also highlighted the importance of digital transactions, setting a target for increased adoption by year-end. Discussions included plans to enhance digital pass systems, introduce NCMC for seamless travel, launch WhatsApp-based ticket booking, and incorporate hydrogen fuel cell buses for sustainable transport. Currently operating 560 buses across several routes, CRUT aims to modernize public transportation in Odisha, aligning with the Vikshit Odisha vision of a smart and sustainable transport network.
