India and the European Union have initiated a collaborative effort through the India-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable solutions. With a joint investment of ₹391 crore, two research calls have been launched focusing on marine pollution and waste-to-green hydrogen technologies. The marine pollution program, co-funded by the EU and India's Ministry of Earth Sciences, aims to combat pollutants like microplastics and heavy metals in marine environments. On the other hand, the waste-to-hydrogen initiative, supported by the EU and India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, seeks to convert biogenic waste into hydrogen using eco-friendly methods. This partnership signifies a shared commitment to advancing green technologies and achieving energy transition goals. The research calls are an integral part of efforts to strengthen EU-India ties in environmental sustainability and energy security, emphasizing collaboration between academia, industry, and startups.
