President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa expressed optimism during the inaugural Africa Green Hydrogen Summit in Cape Town regarding the Africa Green Hydrogen alliance's potential to drive job creation in the region. Ramaphosa emphasized the alliance's goal of generating between two to four million jobs by 2050 through the development of green hydrogen projects. The summit convened key stakeholders such as African energy ministers, policymakers, investors, and research institutions to strategize the growth of the green hydrogen sector across the continent. With over 52 large-scale hydrogen projects already in the pipeline, there is a clear momentum towards green hydrogen production in Africa. The alliance aims to achieve 30 to 60 tons of green hydrogen production by 2050, signaling a shift towards sustainable energy practices and away from traditional mineral exploitation.
