AM Green and Port of Rotterdam Collaboration for India-Europe Green Energy Corridor
Key Ideas
  • AM Green and Port of Rotterdam sign MoU to establish a green energy supply chain connecting India and Northwestern Europe via Rotterdam.
  • The collaboration aims to develop terminal infrastructure, support safe distribution of hydrogen-based fuels, and link India’s Net Zero Industrial Clusters to Europe.
  • The partnership plans to enable trade of green fuels worth up to USD 1 billion annually and contribute to global decarbonization goals.
  • AM Green's ambitious plan includes developing 5,000,000 tons of Green Ammonia production capacity by 2030 and initiating initial production in Kakinada, India.
AM Green and the Port of Rotterdam Authority have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to focus on establishing a green energy supply chain between India and Northwestern Europe through Rotterdam. This partnership will facilitate the supply of bunkering fuels, Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAFs), and the development of essential terminal infrastructure along the supply chain. It aims to create strategic port infrastructure for the safe distribution of hydrogen-based fuels and products, connecting India's Net Zero Industrial Clusters to Europe, with potential annual exports of up to 1,000,000 tons. The collaboration could enable significant trade of green fuels, valued at USD 1 billion, between the two regions. The agreement aligns with AM Green's ambitious goal of developing 5,000,000 tons of Green Ammonia production capacity by 2030, with an initial production site set up in Kakinada. The Port of Rotterdam plays a crucial role as a logistics and hydrogen hub for Europe, handling 13% of the continent's total energy demand. Together, they plan to support India's National Green Hydrogen Mission and Europe's decarbonization objectives. Boudewijn Siemons, CEO of the Port of Rotterdam Authority, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting the importance of establishing a robust supply chain for low-carbon fuels and chemicals. Anil Chalamalasetty, the Founder of AM Green and Greenko Group, emphasized the partnership's role in their global strategy for green fuels production, envisioning a carbon-free energy ecosystem. The collaboration is expected to enhance the movement of green molecules and fuels from India to Europe, positioning AM Green as a key player in the global clean energy transition and accelerating industrial decarbonization worldwide.
