Greensteel Australia and Danieli have announced a partnership to construct a 600,000-tonne-per-year rolling mill in New South Wales, Australia. This pioneering green steel facility will be powered entirely by hydrogen, making it a global leader in zero-emission steel production. The mill will specifically use a reheating furnace fueled by 100% green hydrogen, effectively reducing NOx emissions and eradicating the need for fossil fuels. Targeted at the Australian construction market, the facility will manufacture rebars ranging from 10 to 50 mm in diameter and spooled coils from 8 to 32 mm. Set to be operational by the end of 2026, the project signifies a remarkable step towards sustainable steel production. Giacomo Mareschi, CEO of Danieli Group, expressed enthusiasm in supporting Greensteel Australia's eco-conscious vision by leveraging their technology to establish new benchmarks for environmentally friendly steel manufacturing.
