In a significant move towards sustainable industrial practices, Chhattisgarh has taken a pioneering step by introducing India's first hydrogen fuel cell-powered mining truck. The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Deo Sai, flagged off this groundbreaking innovation developed by Adani Enterprises. The truck, designed to carry 40 tonnes of cargo over a 200-kilometre range, will operate in the Gare Pelma III coal block, transporting coal to the state's thermal power plant. This initiative by Adani Group aims to replace traditional diesel fleets with cleaner, hydrogen-powered vehicles to reduce carbon emissions and promote environmentally-friendly logistics. The hydrogen fuel cell technology in the truck ensures zero harmful emissions, releasing only water vapor and contributing to a significant reduction in the carbon footprint of mining operations. Dr. Vinay Prakash, the CEO of Natural Resources at Adani Enterprises, highlighted the broader sustainability vision of the group, emphasizing the integration of clean energy, digital systems, and autonomous technologies in their mining operations. This initiative not only reduces India's dependence on crude oil imports but also introduces innovative technologies like the Dozer Push Semi-Autonomous Technology in coal extraction.
