The International Solar Alliance (ISA) is gearing up to host its Seventh Regional Committee Meeting (RCM) for the Asia and Pacific Region in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from 15–17 July 2025. With a theme focused on advancing solar cooperation across a region of diversity and opportunity, the meeting aims to bring together government representatives, think tanks, private sector leaders, and development partners to drive the regional solar agenda forward.
The ISA Director General highlighted the importance of operationalizing ideas during the meeting, including topics like aggregated solar platforms for Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and innovation in Green Hydrogen. The meeting will center around four core pillars: Catalytic Finance Hub, Global Capability Centre & Digitization, Regional Platforms, and Technology Roadmap & Policy Innovation.
Thematic sessions will delve into operationalizing SIDS Solar Platforms, boosting institutional capacity through STAR Centres, accelerating E-Mobility, Hydrogen, and Storage projects, and fostering cross-border solar trade. The event will also focus on strengthening partnerships through the signing of Country Partnership Frameworks and collaboration agreements with regional and international bodies, aiming to further solar diplomacy and innovation in the region.
With the participation of 54 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, including Members, Signatories, and Prospective Partners, the Colombo summit is expected to deepen the coalition's commitment to achieving net-zero goals through sustainable solar growth and innovation.
