BASF has taken a remarkable step in the chemical industry by becoming the first producer of renewable ammonia in Central Europe. This innovation involves the introduction of two new renewable ammonia grades, produced at the company's Verbund site in Ludwigshafen. By feeding hydrogen derived from renewable energy sources into the ammonia plant, BASF is able to reduce natural gas consumption and lower the product carbon footprints (PCFs) of its ammonia grades. These renewable ammonia products have been certified according to ISCC+ standards, making them suitable for various applications in a reliable manner.
