Brenmiller Energy, through its SolWinHy Project in Spain, has secured a substantial funding of €25 million from the European Hydrogen Bank. A major portion of this funding, €7 million, is specifically designated for the bGen™ thermal energy storage system. The project's primary objective is to produce 30,000 tons of green e-methanol annually by utilizing 6,500 tons of green hydrogen, all powered by 100% renewable energy sources. The project is set to commence in the first quarter of 2026 and is considered a significant component of Brenmiller Europe's impressive €200 million commercial pipeline. The SolWinHy Project is unique in its off-grid operation, completely dependent on 54 MWh of wind energy and 130 MWp of photovoltaic electricity. Brenmiller's bGen™ system will provide 56 MWh of clean heat storage capacity, crucial for the plant's functioning. This initiative not only contributes towards the European Union's decarbonization objectives but also demonstrates institutional support for green fuel production technologies. It is expected to create new market avenues for Brenmiller's thermal storage solutions across Europe, showcasing a step towards a more sustainable future.
