The H2med project continues to progress as Enagás, NaTran, and Teréga form a joint venture to develop the BarMar underwater hydroproduct, connecting Barcelona to Marseille. This initiative strengthens cross-border cooperation in clean energy and aims to establish the first renewable hydrogen corridor in the European Union. The joint venture, with Enagás holding 50% of the capital, NaTran 33.3%, and Teréga 16.7%, reflects the shared responsibility between France and Spain for the BarMar project, essential for the H2med corridor. Supported by the European Commission, the BarMar project is seen as strategic for transporting clean hydrogen to Europe's industrial centers, with a goal to cover 10% of European hydrogen consumption by 2030. The project has secured funding from the European Climate, Infrastructure, and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) to cover half of the current development costs for necessary studies and assessments. Enagás' CEO, Arturo Gonzalo, emphasizes the milestone as a crucial step in realizing the H2med corridor, expressing determination to tackle technical and regulatory challenges.
