The European Union (EU) and India have jointly announced two research and innovation calls under the EU-India Trade and Technology Council (TTC), focusing on Marine Plastic Litter and Waste-to-Renewable Hydrogen, with a total funding of €41 million (₹394 crore). The research calls aim to address major environmental challenges and develop scalable technological solutions with global impact. The Marine Plastic Litter call, co-funded by the EU and India's Ministry of Earth Sciences, seeks innovative solutions to monitor and mitigate marine pollution, including microplastics and heavy metals. The Waste-to-Renewable Hydrogen call, co-funded by the EU and India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, aims to develop environmentally friendly methods for hydrogen production. The EU-India TTC, established as a strategic coordination platform, reinforces the bilateral partnership on trade, technology, and innovation. It reflects the alignment between the EU and India in promoting economic development and shared democratic values by bringing together researchers, startups, and industries.
