Automotive giants BMW, Hyundai, and Toyota have joined forces to establish the Hydrogen Transport Forum (HTF) in Australia, with the primary goal of accelerating the adoption of hydrogen-powered transport solutions. The forum, as reported by Fuel Cell Works, is dedicated to addressing the existing infrastructure gap, coordinating industry efforts, and advocating for hydrogen's pivotal role in decarbonizing the transport sector in the country. The HTF's mission includes aligning fleet demand with refueling infrastructure, urging for supportive government policies and funding, and enhancing public and industry awareness of the benefits of hydrogen in achieving low-emissions transportation. By focusing on heavy-duty and long-range applications, the HTF recognizes the significance of hydrogen in scenarios where fast refueling and high payload capacity are essential. Inspired by Europe's H2Accelerate coalition, the HTF is scheduled for a soft launch at the 2025 Brisbane Truck Show, with plans to expand its engagement to involve stakeholders from various sectors such as transport, infrastructure, and energy in the future.
