The port aims to establish a green hydrogen production station to cater to vessels, various port equipment, and private transportation. The Director General of the Klaipėda State Seaport Authority, Algis Latakas, emphasizes the ambitious yet worthwhile nature of this venture, highlighting the commitment to environmental obligations. Construction works for the green hydrogen production station are scheduled to commence soon after the completion of the tender procedure. The project involves setting up a specialized site equipped with essential engineering networks for hydrogen production, including pipelines and communication lines. This initiative not only signifies Klaipėda Port's proactive approach to sustainability but also reflects its alignment with the goals of the European Union in promoting eco-friendly practices in the maritime industry.
