Viva Energy has inaugurated Australia's first publicly accessible hydrogen refueling station at its Energy Hub in Geelong, marking a significant step in the country's shift towards cleaner transport solutions. The facility is designed to support a fleet of hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles, positioning Viva Energy at the forefront of zero-emission heavy vehicle infrastructure. By utilizing a 2.5-megawatt electrolyser that generates renewable hydrogen from recycled water, the Geelong site is paving the way for sustainable transportation. This hub caters to a variety of fuel cell electric vehicles, including prime movers, buses, and refuse trucks, all operated by local businesses. Moreover, the station offers fast charging services for electric commercial vehicles, demonstrating the integration of hydrogen and battery-electric technologies to decarbonize medium and heavy-duty fleets. While diesel fuel remains available, this reflects Viva Energy's strategy to provide a diverse range of fuel options.
