Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL) has launched India’s first hydrogen fuel cell truck in Raipur, marking a significant step towards promoting cleaner transportation. These innovative hydrogen-powered trucks are intended to gradually replace diesel vehicles in the company's logistics operations. Equipped with smart technology and three hydrogen tanks, each truck can carry up to 40 tonnes of cargo over a 200-kilometer range. The initiative, developed in collaboration with Indian and international energy technology firms and a major auto manufacturer, aims to enhance cargo transport efficiency while reducing carbon emissions. The Chhattisgarh Chief Minister, Vishnu Deo Sai, flagged off the first truck, highlighting the state's commitment to sustainability and setting a new standard for the industry. The project, undertaken by Adani Enterprises, involves transporting coal from the Gare Pelma III Block to the state's power plant, reflecting a shift towards greener practices in the mining sector. Adani Group's focus on decarbonization and responsible mining practices is evident through the incorporation of innovative technologies like autonomous dozer push, solar power, and digital initiatives to minimize environmental impact. By sourcing hydrogen cells from Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL), which is also engaged in green hydrogen production and renewable energy solutions, the project aims to establish new benchmarks in sustainable mining while ensuring affordable and reliable electricity for all. The launch of India's first hydrogen-powered truck not only signifies a breakthrough in clean transportation but also underscores Adani Group's dedication to driving sustainable initiatives in the energy and mining sectors.
