Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Sembcorp Green Hydrogen India Private Limited (SGHIPL) have announced a joint venture agreement to explore renewable energy and green hydrogen projects in India. This collaboration between BPCL, a key player in the petroleum sector, and Sembcorp, with expertise in renewables, aims to contribute to India's energy transition and development aspirations. The joint venture will not only delve into green hydrogen production but also consider projects related to green ammonia production, emissions reduction for port operations, and other emerging green fuel technologies. G. Krishnakumar, BPCL's Chairman & Managing Director, expressed the significance of this partnership in driving towards a sustainable future. He highlighted the shared commitment to developing innovative renewable energy and green hydrogen solutions to support India's climate goals and achieve net-zero emissions by 2040. BPCL's target is to establish a 10 GW renewable energy portfolio to cater to future energy demands.
