The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) under the Ministry of Power in India and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on research, capacity building, and knowledge sharing in the electricity and energy sector. The agreement includes access for CEA personnel to IIT Roorkee's short-term project work and online courses to enhance technical capabilities. Joint studies will be conducted on critical energy sector issues such as electricity planning, transition, hydropower, clean energy, flexibility in power systems, and distributed generation. Additionally, the collaboration will focus on emerging technologies like green hydrogen, electric mobility, energy storage, and biomass co-firing. The partnership aims to accelerate innovation, support policy formulation, and enable technical interventions to achieve India's target of net-zero emissions by 2070. The MoU reflects the government's effort to promote academic-industry collaboration for advancements in the power and energy sectors.
