In a significant move towards renewable energy, Coal India Limited (CIL) has entered into a non-binding MoU with AM Green to provide 4500 MW of carbon-free energy for green ammonia production facilities. This initiative aligns with India's target of achieving a cleaner energy mix and transitioning towards net-zero emissions. The partnership involves the establishment of 2500-3000 MW of solar power and 1500-2000 MW of wind power, with an estimated investment of Rs. 25,000 Crores, to be set up across India. AM Green, backed by the founders of Greenko, aims to produce 5 million tons per annum (MTPA) of green ammonia by 2030, which includes a substantial production of green hydrogen. The integration of renewable sources with pumped hydro storage ensures a steady supply of green energy. The agreement signifies CIL's proactive role in fostering sustainability and becoming the country's integrated energy provider. Both entities see this partnership as a step towards becoming cost-competitive producers of green hydrogen, green ammonia, and other green molecules globally. The signing ceremony included representatives from CIL and AM Green, reflecting the commitment of the parties towards a carbon-free energy future.
