Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Shri Pralhad Joshi, addressed the Rising North East Investors Summit 2025 in New Delhi, emphasizing the critical role of renewable energy in fueling the growth vision for India's North East. With vast untapped renewable energy resources, including 129 GW potential from large hydro projects and 18 GW from pumped storage plants, the region is central to India's green growth plans. Major investments and industrial interest have been demonstrated through 115 MoUs worth ₹38,856 crore signed in the renewable energy sector. Special initiatives by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy include earmarking 10% of the annual scheme budget for the North East and providing enhanced financial assistance to encourage investment. Notable projects like the commissioning of a 20 MW solar park in Mizoram and the development of a 25 MW green hydrogen plant in Assam highlight the region's project readiness and commitment to clean energy. The Minister positioned the North East as a future energy export hub, emphasizing its proximity to neighboring countries and the global shift towards carbon neutrality. Industry leaders were urged to invest in the region, with assurances of comprehensive government support for sustainable impact and a self-reliant India.
