The European Union and India have formed a partnership to address environmental challenges and advance renewable energy solutions through collaborative research initiatives. The EU and India have launched two significant research and innovation projects under the EU-India Trade and Technology Council, with a combined investment of Euro 41 million. These initiatives focus on combating marine pollution and developing waste-to-renewable hydrogen technologies. The first call, co-funded by the EU and the Indian Ministry of Earth Sciences, targets innovative solutions to monitor and mitigate marine pollution, including microplastics and heavy metals. The second call, co-funded by the EU and India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, aims to develop efficient methods for hydrogen production. Both initiatives aim to drive sustainable development and protect marine ecosystems. The EU-India TTC, established to strengthen bilateral partnership on trade and technology, reflects the alignment between the EU and India in promoting economic development based on shared values. This collaboration signifies a long-standing strategic partnership focused on research and innovation, with additional joint research calls planned for the future, including projects on battery recycling and wastewater treatment.
