Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary of the Union Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, represented India at the 2025 World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. During his speech, Sarangi emphasized India's commitment to becoming a major player in Green Hydrogen production. With significant investments in renewable energy, India aims to reach energy independence by 2047 and net-zero carbon emissions by 2070. The National Green Hydrogen Policy, a key initiative, focuses on creating demand for green hydrogen, providing incentives for production plants, and targeting 5 million metric tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2030. This policy is projected to mitigate nearly 50 MMT of greenhouse gas emissions per year and generate substantial job opportunities. The Summit, organized by Sustainable Energy Council and RX Global in collaboration with Dutch authorities, showcases the importance of green hydrogen in the global energy transition, bringing together international energy ministers, CEOs, and clean energy professionals to discuss advancements in the sector. The event also sheds light on different types of hydrogen production, emphasizing the benefits and distinctions of Green, Blue, Grey, Black, and Brown hydrogen, and their impact on emissions reduction and environmental sustainability.
