The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) in India has introduced a new proposal for a distinct category of registration number plates specifically for hydrogen fuel-operated vehicles. The draft notification highlights different designs for commercial vehicles, private cars, and rental cabs that run on hydrogen fuel. The purpose of this initiative is to enable better identification and regulation of these eco-friendly vehicles on Indian roads. Commercial vehicles will feature a registration plate with a green top half and blue bottom half, adorned with yellow figures. Private cars will have a similar design but with white figures instead of yellow. Rental cabs, on the other hand, will sport a different design with a black top half and blue bottom half, along with yellow figures. This color-coded system is expected to assist authorities in distinguishing between various types of hydrogen fuel-operated vehicles, making it easier to monitor and manage them effectively. The introduction of these specially designed registration plates signifies a positive step towards promoting and enhancing the visibility of hydrogen-powered vehicles in India's transportation sector.
