At the ET Edge Supply Chain Summit 2025 in New Delhi, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari highlighted India's progress towards becoming a $5 trillion economy by reducing logistics costs by 6%. He emphasized the importance of expressways, economic corridors, port connectivity, and digital tolling in achieving this milestone. Gadkari praised the growth of India's automobile manufacturing industry and its potential for EVs in both domestic and export markets. He discussed the significance of clean transport solutions, such as the launch of a CNG motorcycle and the manufacturing of electric trucks. Gadkari also outlined the impact of the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan on improving cargo movement and highlighted projects like multi-modal logistics hubs and Vadhvan Port. The minister emphasized the government's focus on port connectivity, which has led to reduced transport costs and improved turnaround times at ports. He mentioned ongoing highway projects that are decreasing travel times and opening up new economic corridors. Gadkari also discussed technological advancements in tolling systems and efforts towards transitioning to clean fuels, including hydrogen. He revealed pilot projects for hydrogen highways worth Rs 600 crore. By promoting sustainable growth, cleaner fuels, and inclusive infrastructure, Gadkari envisions a brighter future for India's logistics and economy.
