The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, highlighted India's remarkable growth in renewable energy capacity, with a 4,000 per cent increase in installed solar capacity over the past decade, reaching 227 gigawatts. Emphasizing a holistic approach to clean energy, the focus extends from critical minerals to energy storage and recycling. Additionally, India aims to achieve 500 gigawatts of renewable energy by 2030, aligning with its NDCs. The significant progress was further underscored by the Union Power Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar, who mentioned that India is close to reaching the 50 per cent renewable energy milestone of 472 gigawatts. The country is actively working on enhancing energy storage systems to stabilize the grid and ensure continuous clean energy access, with notable cost reductions. India's push towards green hydrogen is evident through its plans to produce 10 million tonnes of green hydrogen and establish substantial electrolyser capacity. The Indian Energy Storage Week (IESW) 2025 provided insights into the country's energy landscape, including targets to increase battery energy storage system capacities. With a focus on sustainable energy solutions, India is poised to lead in renewable energy and green hydrogen initiatives.
