India's SECI Extends Bid Deadline for Green Ammonia Production Tender
Key Ideas
- SECI, under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in India, has extended the bid submission deadline for producing and supplying green ammonia.
- The tender, part of the SIGHT Scheme, aims to supply 724,000 metric tonnes of green ammonia annually to 13 designated fertiliser plants in India.
- Agreements with green ammonia producers will ensure commercial certainty for 10 years, promoting market development for green hydrogen derivatives.
- The extension until June 30, 2025, provides more time for stakeholders to participate in India's green hydrogen transition.
The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), a key entity under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in India, has extended the bid submission deadline for its tender related to the production and supply of green ammonia. Originally issued on June 7, 2024, the new deadline for bid submissions is now June 30, 2025. This initiative is a crucial part of the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Scheme aimed at facilitating the annual production and long-term supply of 724,000 metric tonnes of green ammonia to 13 designated fertiliser plants across India.
The SECI will act as the implementing agency, responsible for aggregating demand and establishing long-term offtake agreements with selected green ammonia producers. These agreements are structured to offer commercial certainty for a period of 10 years, thus boosting the market development for green hydrogen derivatives in India. The deadline extension provides stakeholders with more time to participate in this significant step towards green hydrogen transition in the country.
