India's Petroleum Minister, Hardeep Singh Puri, highlighted India's commitment to collaborating for an inclusive global energy future at a conference in Mumbai. Emphasizing India's role as a global energy bridge, Puri discussed the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) as a platform for sustainable development. He mentioned that IMEC goes beyond transportation, aiming to revive ancient trade routes and integrate energy, trade, and digital infrastructure. Puri noted India's efforts in adopting clean energy solutions such as undersea cables and hydrogen pipelines. Despite being a significant importer of crude oil, India has diversified its energy sources, focusing on boosting domestic production, promoting ethanol blending, and leading in green hydrogen initiatives. The minister highlighted the growth in India's crude oil consumption from 5 million to 5.5 million barrels per day and projected a rise to 13.2 million barrels per day by 2050. This growth aligns with India's economic ambitions and global leadership aspirations. Puri emphasized that energy is not just a driver of economic growth but also a symbol of a nation's confidence, ambition, and future direction.
