Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal participated in an MoU signing ceremony between Kolkata-based GRSE and Norway's Kongsberg Oslo for India's first Polar Research Vessel (PRV). The vessel will facilitate ocean exploration and research, showcasing India's shipbuilding capabilities under the 'Make In India' initiative. Sonowal also discussed India's MAHASAGAR vision at a Ministerial Meeting, focusing on sustainable growth through economic prosperity and environmental stewardship. He emphasized the importance of international cooperation and sustainability in India's shipping and ocean business to promote mutual growth. Additionally, Sonowal invited Norwegian shipowners to invest in India's maritime sector during a roundtable, highlighting India's transformative path towards a green, smart, and resilient maritime ecosystem. The collaboration between India and Norway aims to strengthen the global maritime leadership position of both countries through green initiatives like green ports and alternative fuels such as green hydrogen.
