Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced that its subsidiary, L&T Energy GreenTech Ltd, will establish India's largest green hydrogen plant at Indian Oil Corporation Ltd's (IOCL) Panipat Refinery in Haryana. The plant, to be operational round the clock, will supply 10,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually to IOCL for a period of 25 years. It will be built on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis and will utilize renewable energy sources for production.
The green hydrogen plant will employ high-pressure alkaline electrolysers manufactured at L&T Electrolysers Ltd's facility in Hazira, Gujarat. This significant initiative by L&T aligns with the Centre's National Green Hydrogen Mission and supports IOCL's efforts to decarbonize its refining operations, contributing to India's net-zero goals.
L&T's Deputy Managing Director, Subramanian Sarma, expressed that this project validates the company's commitment to leading India's energy transition. The collaboration with IOCL enhances L&T's capability to provide large-scale clean energy solutions.
